A Church of England School

Working alongside our local churches

At Easter, Christmas and at the end of the academic year, we have a special service at St. Nicholas Church on the last day of term.

The Fountain of Life Church provides opportunities to work with our children, as well as making contributions to collective worship through their regular 'Kidzclub' assemblies.

Governor Ethos Committee

The school as an active ethos committee, which is represented by the headteacher and selected governors.  There are also regular contributions from the school council.

Collective Worship

At the end of each day we have a daily act of collective worship which often involves singing, prayer and stories from the bible.

Our collective worship is closely linked to our school values and an overview of our collective worship themes can be found below.

Collective Worship Overview
R.E.
Religious Education at Ashill V.C. Primary School is taught in accordance with the Norfolk Agreed Syllabus..

The purpose of RE is religious literacy. This means, helping children and young people to hold balanced and well-informed conversations about religion and belief.  In order to fulfil this purpose, our teaching of RE at Ashill V.C. Primary School provides a balance between three disciplines. These are:

Theology: This is about believing. It looks at where beliefs come from, how they have changed over time, how they are applied differently in different contexts and how they relate to each other.

Philosophy: This is about thinking. It is about finding out how and whether things make sense. It deals with questions of morality and ethics. It takes seriously the nature of reality, knowledge and existence.

Human/Social Sciences: This is about living. It explores the diverse ways in which people practise their beliefs. It engages with the impact of beliefs on individuals, communities and societies.
