Our topic this term: Ice & Snow

We will explore the extreme points of our planet, finding out about all the animals that can live in those amazing conditions. We will find out about penguins and polar bears and find out about how these amazing animals survive in such cold places. We learn about the Inuit people and how they live. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us and we will be able to play with some real snow!

Ice & Snow Topic Plan Our topic plan for the year

PE lessons are on Mondays, please make sure your child comes properly equipped. When the weather is good, PE will outside some of the time so please make sure children have suitable trainers and tracksuit bottoms.

Please send a water bottle into school for your child to use in class. We only allow the children water to drink in class but you can put a fruit drink in their pack lunch if you wish.

Please remember to name your child's PE kit and school uniform - it makes it so much easier to return if lost.

Now it is Winter we will no doubt get some very cold days, please make sure your child has a coat, hat and gloves for playtimes as we still go out to play unless it becomes too icy!

Reading at Home

As you know, reading is life skill all children need to master. In order for your child to continue to make good progress in this area please try to read with them as many times a week as you can. A huge thank you to those of you who already regularly hear your children read at home.

We are trying to encourage the children to read more with the use of our new reading reward scheme "Book Band-its". Each day your child reads at home they will move up 1 block on the Book Band-its graph. When they reach 50 reads they will get a red wrist band, 50 reads = blue wrist band, 90 reads = silver wrist band and 130 reads = gold wrist band and an invite to a tea party at the end of term.  We are really hoping this motivates the children to read more at home!

Welcome back, we hope you had a lovely break. Happy New Year 2018!  Please explore our class page and find out more about our topic for this term and the exciting topics we will be exploring next. We will be sharing news and photos throughout the year in the school newsletter.

Thank you
