Ashill VC Primary School

Our topic this term: Toys from the Past

We will find out more about the different toys we play with, ones our parents liked and the kind of toys our grandparents played with as children. We will compare old and new toys and look at the different materials used to make them. We will be going on a trip to Gressenhall to find out more about life in the 1950s and get a chance to play with toys from the time.

Butterfly and Squirrel Class

PE lessons are on Tuesdays, please make sure your child comes properly equipped. When the weather is good, PE will outside some of the time so please make sure children have suitable trainers and tracksuit bottoms.

Please send a water bottle into school for your child to use in class. We only allow the children water to drink in class but you can put a fruit drink in their pack lunch if you wish.

Reading at Home

As you know, reading is life skill all children need to master. In order for your child to continue to make good progress in this area please try to read with them at least 3 times a week. A huge thank you to those of you who already regularly hear your children read at home.

We are trying to encourage the children to read more with the use of our new reading reward scheme "Book Band-its". Each day your child reads at home they will move up 1 block on the Book Band-its graph. When they reach 20 reads they will get a red wrist band, 5o reads = blue wrist band, 90 reads = silver wrist band and 130 reads = gold wrist band and an invite to a tea party at the end of term.  We are really hoping this motivates the children to read more at home!

Welcome back, we hope you had a lovely half-term break.  During the mornings Butterfly class (year 1) and Squirrel class (year 2) are taught in a small classes and then join together in the afternoon. Please explore our class page and find out more about our topic for this term and the exciting topics we will be exploring next. We will be sharing news and photos throughout the year so don’t forget to regularly check back!

Thank you
